Aberdeen Positive (AB+)

AB+

… an invitation to the forthcoming Aberdeen Positive (AB+) Conference which will take place on the 26th of January 2012 at Aberdeen Arts Centre.

This conference is the idea of a group of arts organisations and practitioners working in Aberdeen and the wider region with the overarching aim of making a ‘step-change’ in the cultural life of the city. We want this conference to celebrate what we currently do well and to challenge us to improve, to think big and ultimately help identify the steps we need to take to reach our ambitions.

NEOS is Scotland's largest Open Studios showcasing a wealth of talent, from amature to professional. NEOS is a platform for the arts in Sepetember, giving Audience and Practitioner alike the ability to interface and connect.

Grampian Woodturners are presenting a two-day woodturning demonstration featuring Joey Richardson

A very talented and versatile turner who incorporates carving and colouring techniques into her work.

Venue: Scottish Agriculture College, Bucksburn, Aberdeen

Hospitalfield, the international residential centre for artists, has now launched its plans as centre for art and culture in Angus, a support network, the Friends of Hospitalfield and a new website at www.hospitalfield.org.uk

If you would like to become a Friend of this unique and historic institution you can join online via http://www.hospitalfield.org.uk/friends/friends.php. The annual individual membership fee is £25 (£30 for couples). They are preparing a varied and exciting programme of events. Friends will receive a regular newsletter to keep them informed.

NEOS 2010 is now accepting entries!

The application form is now live for you to join NEOS2010.

Online Application: STEP 1 : Create a NEOS Account

In order to register as a participant for NEOS2010, you must first create a NEOS account.
(Please note your NEOS'09 login details will NOT work. A new account must be opened). Please complete the following form to create a new NEOS account and take a note of the password you choose. You will need this password to complete your NEOS registration. The deadline for completing your form is the 12th of April 2010. After that - we will incur a late entry fee - which will be £20 and the entry system will be open until the 19th of April - any incomplete entries after that date will be deleted and the set up of the 2010 booklet will commence - no additional entries / amendments to the database can be accepted after that date.

The Entry fee for NEOS2010 will be £99

Paper applications can be accepted for additional £10 fee (£109 total).

NEOS Youth Initiative

NEOS are also supporting young artists and makers this year by giving a reduced entry fee to anyone 24 years old and younger. The young persons entry fee is £50 - you must be 24 or younger from the 22nd of September 2010 if you have any questions, please email info@northeastopenstudios.co.uk.

A GROUP of Mearns artists have put their work on display ahead of an annual art event which sees studios throughout the north-east opened to the public.
A collection of 60 paintings, sculptures, and pieces of pottery and jewellery are on display at Stonehaven Town Hall for the “taster” show....

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - ‘Reflections on the Planet’

Please help us raise funds by making a creative and unique contribution to an exhibition titled ‘Reflections on the Planet’.

All proceeds from sales go to supporting Caretakers of the Environment International Conference 5 – 11 July 2009

Work submitted must interpret the title of the exhibition
Information for making your artwork for the CD exhibition

· Please feel free to work on a any surface you prefer.
· Measurement of template has to be exactly 138mm x 119mm (so that it can fit inside the CD case).
· If you would like to send more than one work we would be delighted.
· All work will be sold anonymously and affordably priced at £25.00.
· Please do not sign the front of your work but remember to sign the back.
· Please return your completed work no later Friday 25 June to enable us to prepare the exhibition.
· The exhibition will open on Monday 29 June from 6pm – 8pm to which you, your friends and family are invited.
· Buyers of CD’s will be told the name of the artist when they collect their CD, at the end of the exhibition, which runs until the Friday 31 July 2009.

Easter Anguston Farm has a long history of responsible farming – whether restoring hedgerows, forest management, assisting in the re-introduction of Red Kites to the area, supporting pollination with meadows and wild flowers or just our recycling/composting activity....

RSA MORTON AWARD FOR LENS BASED WORK 2009

DEADLINE - 28 MAY 2009

About the Award
The Morton Award is for artists working in lens-based media and is administered by the Royal Scottish Academy and funded by the Morton Charitable Trust. It consists of a monetary award of £4,300 to develop and produce a new work in a lens based medium around a theme selected by the Royal Scottish Academy, and an exhibition of the completed new work at the RSA Annual Exhibition in 2009.

The Royal Scottish Academy is delighted to have secured a grant from the Morton Charitable Trust for new commissions by artists who were born in or are currently living and working in Scotland. The Morton Award will support artists in developing new works in photography or film loosely based on a theme concerning cultural, socio-economic, environmental or political developments in Scotland. Each year, the works by the Morton Award winner will be showcased at the RSA Annual Exhibition.

A short list of artists will be invited to present their project to the Panel of Adjudicators at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh. Adjudicators for this year are Arthur Watson RSA, Calum Colvin RSA, Marion Smith RSA and Colin R Greenslade, Programme Director, RSA

Invitation to the Annual General Meeting “Networking Event”

At the Gordon Highlanders, Saturday the 28th of February, 10.00 for 10.30 am.

The agenda will include a presentation by Niall Paton, who will speak about the open studio principles and some ideas to assist with marketing and promotion of your individual events. Pam Hamilton and Kate McKenzie will be giving an account of their NEOS2008 experiences and a general Q&A with the NEOS committee.
There will also be an opportunity to network with other NEOS participants over coffee/tea and scones.
