To coincide with Aberdeen Visual Arts Award scheme we are running this practical workshop for individuals, working in any artform, on making applications and proposals for funding, commissions and residencies.
Aimed primarily at individuals making applications and proposals concerning their own creative practice rather than for group and organisation applications. Making Applications and Proposals workshops have attracted over 300 artists, designers, musicians, filmmakers, performers, writers, photographers and community artists.
The session will cover planning and structuring your approach with the key information you need to convey in your application. We will also discuss what funders and commissioners are looking for and the materials needed to support your proposal.
This workshop is supported by Aberdeen City Council.

The Starting Out workshop is specifically tailored for practising creative professionals and offers an ideal opportunity to share the experiences and realities of operating, financing and making a living from your creative practice or business.
Aimed at anyone with an interest in working in the cultural and creative industries and wanting to establish a business in the sector. Starting Out workshops have attracted over 1200 artists, designers, musicians, filmmakers, performers, writers, photographers and community artists.

SAS Announces National Art Competition
Scottsdale Artists' School is announcing a unique call to artists for Spark! Igniting the Power of Art to celebrate environmentally friendly energy resources, a juried representational art competition. Visual artists have the power to create a broad impact on the global appeal to conserve energy, focus on renewable resources, and the urgency of restoring a clean environment.
The School invites artists to submit work based on the theme: Igniting the Power of Art to celebrate environmentally friendly energy resources.The competition is open to all artists, ages 18 and older. Entries must be received no later than March 20, 2009 and a $5,000 cash prize will be awarded to the winner.
The fee for the first entry is $35 and each additional entry is $25. The School will present the award at the Gala event, April 18, 2009, where the work will be on display. Artists must submit entries through the Website, www.callforentry.org.
Artists should go to the site and search for the call by the school name, Scottsdale Artists' School.
All images and information will be collected on the Website and juried by the school. The juried art competition kicks off events for the School’s Annual Fundraiser Gala, Spark – Igniting the Power of Art, April 18, 2009.

CALL TO ARTISTS TO PARTICIPATE IN FESTIVAL FINE & APPLIED ARTS FAIR
COAST Festival of the Visual Arts will be taking place for the second year running in Banff & Macduff over the holiday weekend of 22nd to 25th May 2009.The Festival, which is supported by Aberdeenshire Council, Scottish Enterprise and EventScotland, seeks to deliver a nationally and internationally important annual visual arts festival to attract increased visitors to the Banffshire Coast.

Herman Gross book
Herman Gross has a direct connection with NEOS insofar as Catherine Imhof-Cardinal and Marga Schnell (both members of NEOS) were pupils of Hermann Gross.
Jennifer Melville, Keeper of Fine Art at Aberdeen Art Galley wrote a foreword to the book.
Hermann Gross spent the last 25 years of his life in the North East of Scotland as artist-in-residence at Camphill School in Aberdeen.
