Left Bank July and August 2009

A preview of new work by Kristi Cumming Friday 17th July 2009
6pm - 9pm
Poetry 7pm - 7.30pm with time to look at work before and after.

The next exhibition opens on Friday July 17th and is of new landscape paintings by Shetland artist, Kristi Cumming whose work currently explores Northern islandscapes, their intense water laden colours and the remains of working from the land and the sea, past and present.

In The Office will be Mary Archibald's magical and enigmatic dolls.

In conjunction with the Shetland theme, I am delighted that Christine de Luca has agreed to come and read poetry at the preview. In addition I am grateful to Chris Dowle from Shetland who will play classical guitar and to Charles Dunbar, who lived in Shetland for many years and now lives in Tarland, who will open the event with the pipes.

'Birds, beasts and delicacies'
Preview: Friday 7th August 6pm - 8.30pm

Overlapping with this show will be another to coincide with the Tarland Show on the 8th August. The preview will be on Friday 7th August and the show includes work by Joyce Gunn Cairns, Helen Denerley, Jack Crabtree, Alexe Dilworth, James Newton Adams, Mary Archibald and Fraser Ritchie.

The show is inspired by the animals around us, both farmed and wild, and their intrinsic connection with both the changing appearance of the landscape and the economy.

giclée prints

Ian Shewan (official photographer for south area), is offering a service to NEOS2009 contributors whereby you can have Fine Art prints made from your paintings, with a view to selling them during the event. Ian says:

I currently charge a fixed price per image for capture of art (controlled studio lighting), regardless of size of the original piece, because the work involved is the same. Once the artwork is captured, I post-process to render colours as accurately as possible. No reproduction is 100% true, but my results so far have been very good.

I would keep this on file, and be able to ‘print-on-demand’ giclée prints on various papers: Hahnemühle smooth fine art, watercolour, canvas, Aquarella etc, depending on the finish that is desired. The advantage of this small print run approach over some of the commercial providers is that they often charge minimum fees and minimum quantities (e.g. 20 prints etc). Another advantage is that original works are not being shipped in the postal system – I am Stonehaven based and operate on a client deliver/collect basis currently. It does mean that NEOS members further afield would need to get their works to me.

Prints are priced on a two-tier system, dependent on size: up to 9”x13” (image plus margins), and from 9”x13” up to 13”x19”.

For pricing information, please contact me at neos2009@ianshewan.com or just call me on 01569 767769.
